Dr Schumacher was appointed Managing Director of Union Investment Institutional Property GmbH in March 2011.

Within the Union Investment group, he is responsible for real-estate and infrastructure business for institutional customers, managing around €7.5bn across 18 funds.

From 2005 to 2011, he worked at the Generali Group. From 2008, he was Managing Director of Generali Immobiliare Asset Management S.à.r.l in both Luxembourg and Paris.

Dr Schumacher previously worked as a lawyer for Linklaters in Berlin and London.
